How to Prepare Your Nail Salon for Furniture Installation

Posted by Cindy Chau on

Installing new nail salon furniture—like pedicure chairs, manicure tables, reception desks, or chairs—is exciting, but the installation day can turn chaotic if the space isn’t ready. A little preparation ahead of time helps your team avoid delays, protects your floors and walls, and makes sure everything fits perfectly.

Below is a step-by-step guide to prepare your nail salon for furniture installation the right way.

1. Confirm Your Installation Date and Time

Before anything else, make sure you have the correct delivery/installation day scheduled.

Double-check these details:

  • Delivery date and arrival window
  • What furniture is being installed (pedicure chairs, tables, etc.)
  • Whether old equipment removal is included

Pro tip: If you have appointments booked, consider installing on a slower day or after business hours to avoid interruptions.

2. Measure Everything One More Time

Even if you already measured before ordering, it’s smart to measure again before installation.

Measure these areas:

  • Doorways and hallways (width and height)
  • Tight corners and turns
  • Ceiling height (for tall cabinets or shelving)
  • The installation area (exact space where furniture will sit)

This prevents problems like furniture not fitting through the entrance or needing last-minute rearranging.

3. Clear the Installation Area Completely

Installers need room to move, unpack, and assemble without obstacles.

Remove or relocate:

  • Chairs, stools, carts, and pedi-carts
  • Small tables and décor items
  • Trash bins, mats, and floor fans
  • Retail displays near the install zone

If you’re installing multiple pieces, clear up a large open space so boxes and parts can be staged safely.

4. Protect Floors, Walls, and Door Frames

Salon furniture can be heavy—especially pedicure chairs and cabinetry—so protecting your space is a must.

Use protective materials like:

  • Cardboard sheets or moving blankets on floors
  • Corner guards or foam padding on walls
  • Tape down protective coverings to prevent slipping

This helps avoid scratches, dents, and paint damage during movement and assembly.

5. Plan Electrical Outlets and Power Access

Many salon furniture pieces require power, especially:

  • Pedicure spa chairs
  • LED-lit manicure tables
  • Reception desks with lighting
  • UV/LED lamps and workstations

Before install day, check:

  • Outlet locations (are they close enough?)
  • Extension cords are not needed long-term
  • Breaker capacity (especially for multiple chairs)
  • Any dedicated circuits required

If you need an electrician, schedule it before installation day so everything is ready.

6. Prepare Plumbing (If Installing Pedicure Chairs)

Pedicure chairs often require plumbing for water lines and drainage. If plumbing isn’t ready, installation may be delayed.

Make sure you have:

  • Water supply line available
  • Drain line location confirmed
  • Proper shut-off valves
  • Floor access (if needed)
  • A licensed plumber scheduled (if required)

Important: Don’t assume every chair installs the same way. Always follow the manufacturer’s requirements.

7. Check Ventilation and Space for Technician Access

Installers and technicians need room behind and around furniture to connect wires, secure bolts, and test features.

Leave enough space for:

  • Access panels
  • Water and drain connections
  • Massage chair motors
  • Electrical connections

Avoid placing furniture too tight against the wall unless it’s designed for that layout.

8. Create a Temporary Work Zone

Furniture installation involves tools, packaging, and sometimes minor mess. Set up a designated “work zone” so your salon stays organized.

Work zone should include:

  • A clear area for boxes and parts
  • A spot for tools and assembly
  • A trash area for packaging
  • A safe place away from customers

If you’re open during install, keep customers away from the installation area for safety.

9. Assign One Person to Oversee the Installation

Even if you trust the installers, it helps to have one person in charge to answer questions quickly.

That person should be able to:

  • Confirm layout and placement
  • Approve any changes
  • Unlock doors and provide access
  • Review the furniture upon arrival
  • Sign off after installation is complete

This keeps everything moving without confusion.

10. Inspect the Furniture Before Installation Starts

Before installers begin, inspect your furniture while it’s still packaged or newly unpacked.

Check for:

  • Correct model and color
  • Any visible damage from shipping
  • Missing parts or hardware
  • Correct quantity of items

If anything looks wrong, report it immediately before the installation continues.

11. Test Everything After Installation

Once installation is complete, don’t rush into using the furniture without testing.

Test these features:

  • Power and LED lighting
  • Massage functions (if applicable)
  • Water flow and drainage (for pedicure chairs)
  • Stability and leveling
  • Drawers, doors, and moving parts

Ask the installer how to use any special controls and how to properly maintain the furniture.
